JD Edwards EnterpriseOne Tools Release upgrades

Allari can deliver your Tools Release upgrade or bring in JD Edwards CNC specialists for the stages your team needs help with. We check compatibility, rehearse in nonproduction, and agree on the cutover window and rollback plan with your team.

Two ways to work together

How much of the upgrade can Allari take on?

Full upgrade delivery

Your Client Solutions Manager coordinates the work with your team. CNC specialists lead technical assessment, preparation, rehearsal and cutover. We bring in database, development and functional specialists where the upgrade calls for them.

Your team keepsBusiness priorities, user acceptance and production approvals.

Your CNC team leads

Keep the repeatable work with your team and bring in Allari at two points: verifying the certified stack up front, and rehearsing and executing the production cutover. We can also take on individual tasks where your team needs capacity.

We agree up frontWho executes each task, who validates it, and who handles issues after the handover.

From certification to handover

How do we plan, test and cut over?

  1. Check the target combination

Record your current Tools and Applications releases, environments, operating systems, databases and server components. Check the target against Oracle Certifications (Minimum Technical Requirements), including Java/JDK and WebLogic where applicable. Review required ESUs, customizations and integration dependencies.

  2. Rehearse in nonproduction

Check whether your test environment represents the production web tier and has access to the integrations you need to validate. Where suitable, rehearse the switch to a parallel WebLogic domain. Check sign-in, package deployment, batch jobs and critical connections. Have users validate business transactions and time the restore before the production window.

  3. Agree when to proceed or roll back

Carry out the agreed sequence in the approved production window. Use checkpoints and production smoke tests to guide the go/no-go decision. Name the approver and agree on the latest safe time to start rollback before the window opens.

  4. Hand over the runbook

Record what changed, what passed validation and what still needs attention. Hand over operating and recovery steps, open issues and their owners. If hypercare is in scope, agree on its coverage and who takes over when it ends.

Documented customer work · 2024

A Tools and database upgrade that kept the Applications release

Allari helped a public transit agency upgrade EnterpriseOne Tools from 9.2.6.3 to 9.2.8.1 and move from SQL Server 2016 to 2022 while retaining EnterpriseOne Applications 9.2 Update 6. CNC engineering and project coordination covered nonproduction testing, backup prerequisites, production work and post-go-live support.

Questions to settle before the upgrade

Can we keep our current EnterpriseOne Applications release?
A Tools-only upgrade can retain the Applications release when the target combination is supported. We check your baseline against Oracle’s certifications and call out database, runtime or application changes that need their own scope. Compare the Release 26 changes and upgrade considerations.
Will we need downtime?
The answer depends on your environment, deployment approach and rehearsal. Agree on the outage window, required validations and rollback decision point before approving production work.
How do you estimate cost and timing?
Start with the current and target Tools versions, Applications release, environments and integrations. We separate platform prerequisites from the core upgrade and use the overlap between incoming electronic software updates (ESUs) and your modified objects to scope retrofit. Testing responsibilities and the production window also shape the estimate.
