Check the JDE configuration before building more code

Outcome: Finance approved the tested change for production. Allari recorded the configuration update; later live-transaction validation remained to be confirmed.

The pressure: a workflow needed to work end to end

A customer needed JD Edwards order and receipt behavior to support its landed-cost process. The work had been discussed as an automation requirement, with questions around coding and workflow. Before extending the application, the team needed to understand the business process and determine whether existing configuration could meet the need. The delivery record shows business coordination, functional analysis and development expertise working on that question together.

Bring the business question to the right specialists

Allari reviewed related historical tickets, discussed the issue with functional and development specialists, and arranged a customer meeting to clarify what should be automated. The team examined receipt-routing settings and agreed to test the relevant process in a nonproduction environment. This connected the customer’s desired behavior to specific application settings, rather than assuming the wording of the request had already identified the right technical solution.

Test a configuration-based solution

The record describes removing a receipt-route setting and checking the existing receipt-processing configuration. Functional analysis identified a configuration-based approach for the linked order and receipt process. Later delivery notes report further analysis of setup gaps, configuration changes, testing of the expected behavior and a customer demonstration. The important choice was to investigate the application’s existing behavior before committing to additional custom development. The record supports that choice; it does not establish that every automation requirement can be solved through configuration.

Let finance check the result before production

A customer message confirms that finance completed its checks and approved moving the solution to production. Allari then communicated its plan to change the production configuration. Delivery notes record that the production configuration was completed and the customer informed. Business validation and technical execution were separate responsibilities, joined through a clear handoff. That sequence gives the customer a role in deciding whether the tested behavior meets the business need before the production setting changes.

What changed—and what remained to be checked

The recorded result is a configuration solution tested outside production, approved by the customer’s finance team and implemented in production. The later summary also records a dependency on future production-transaction testing before final closure. Although the ticket is closed, the reviewed notes do not independently demonstrate that later live transaction or its result. Production configuration, test-environment validation and observed live operating behavior are different milestones. No recurring time saving, accounting improvement or reduced development cost is quantified here.

Use the operating knowledge to choose the next action

This example shows the value of putting business understanding, functional expertise and technical delivery into one coordinated discussion. A request that begins with automation language can still benefit from a configuration review and a practical test. For a similar change, agree the business behavior, test cases, approval owner and live verification needed after deployment. Allari works alongside your Core Team with an included Client Solutions Manager to coordinate the required expertise, priorities and budget. The aim is a maintainable change with responsibilities your team can see and evidence of what has been checked.

Evidence boundary: Based on the reviewed 2026 service-ticket discussion and delivery notes. Customer approval, nonproduction checks and the production configuration update are recorded. Final live-transaction validation and quantified operating benefits were not established.
